About Us
David Robichaud, along with Ollie – the love of David’s life, own and operate Oxford Hills Mercantile, also known locally as “Ollie and David’s”, at 9 Market Square in South Paris, Maine.
From an early age, I’ve always been drawn to older things. I chose to live surrounding myself with mostly antiques, however, in more recent times, I’ve felt the need to leave a better footprint, both physically and spiritually, which led to first establishing Ollie and David’s UnCommon Curiousities in Rockland, Maine during the COVID days. We then relocated to South Paris, Maine 2 years ago and opened as Oxford Hills Mercantile – Ollie and David’s. Situated in the heart of Market Square, and housed in a vintage 1852 General Mercantile building, is our gathering of curated vintage and repurposed finds. Taking the old and discarded, and giving them new life and purpose. As a result an experience of reconnecting to the past and yet bringing it forward into today is formed , maybe even the collectables of tomorrow.
Inspired to connect with today’s generation, the Coffee & Tea Bar, featuring Espresso, Brewed Coffee, Tea and a variety of sweet treats, emerged at Ollie & David’s inside of Oxford Hills Mercantile. The Coffee & Tea Bar has grown into a social gathering place for passersby to take a breath out of the day’s hectic pace, enjoy a beverage and a sweet treat. These new friends have not expected to be drawn into the experience that surrounds them when they enter, but being greeted by Oliver (my English Springer Spaniel), Emma and Grady (my cats), along with the fragrant smells, sounds and visual stimuli evoke a smile and an overwhelming good feeling and sense of well-being.
Our summer Farmers Market, held on Thursday afternoons in our adjacent parking lot, attracts both locals and travelers. It features Smokin Dave’s BBQ, fresh produce, flowers, meats, eggs, honey, Maine maple syrup, baked goods and much more from our gardens and nature. You’ll also find a variety of vendors who offer crafts, textiles, jewelry, art, antiques and more.
Throughout the year, we sponsor other specialty happenings, such as an Artisan Fair, Paris Flea Market, Holiday market and more.
L'Atelier de Créativité
Our newly opened second floor features hand curated pieces of period antiques, oriental area rugs in a variety of ages, new and vintage art geared to enhance your home, as well as fine furnishings of furniture and lamps along with beautifully crafted taxidermy pieces fitting for the finest of homes.
Our second floor, known as L’Atelier de Créativité is a place to browse and is open as a place for small meetings, special events and creative performances inspired by arts and music. If you would like to discuss hosting a small meeting or special event on our second floor, please inquire with David while visiting us or give us a call.
We will host our own special happenings in the second floor L’Atelier de Créativité space now that it is open as well. Stay tuned for details to come.
